Lipstick Shades For Medium Skin Tones

Ever wondered why your makeup looks weird today, but you can’t quite put a finger on something?
Chances are, the lipstick shade is to blame.

Lip products are a big part of any woman’s makeup collection. And choosing just about any lip colour that comes to hand is one of the biggest mistakes you could be making! The right shades can help pop  out natural features while making your skin glow. On the other hand, inappropriate lipstick choices lead to dull, washed out or out of place appearances. I’m sure nobody wants that.

Even among tan-skinned ladies, there can be further differences in undertone, i.e cool, warm or neutral. Please check out my post What Are Skin Undertones And How To Find Them, if you are not sure what yours is. I’ve explained everything you need to know in it.

So naturally, the post is broken down into two sections, each for cool and warm tones respectively. Women with neutral undertones are lucky enough to rock any of them. I’ve given a lipstick along with each shade. Feel free to click on any of them, if you’re interested!

Cool Undertones

1. Pink Nude

Starting out with the lightest shade, is this absolutely gorgeous light pink. This is one of the best natural-looking options to go for. The MAC Powder Kiss Lipstick in Influentially It is a good example.

2. Bright Pink

Another great option is bright almost neon-like pinks. Pair this bold lip with simple toned down makeup and you’re good to go! I love the lip velvet (road trip bright hot pink) by clove + hallow in this category.

3. Blue-Red

No, I’m not talking about any ordinary red. Blue-based reds are will really match with the cool pigment within you. Besides, every gal needs to have a red in her collection. Don’t you agree? The Tatcha Kyoto Red Silk is the right kind.

4. Berry Mauve

When going darker, you girls with cool tones need to be a tad more careful. Colours still on the bluish-purplish spectrum, are the ones to go for. Try out the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in 764 On The Mauve.

5. Coffee Brown

Ah, as a big fan of coffee, this unique colour has left me drooling! It’s not fully brown or red, but the perfect mixture between the two. A great coffee-coloured lipstick is the Urban Decay Vice in 1993.

Warm Undertones

1. Peachy Nude

Having a warm undertone myself, peachy pink is my go-to lip shade. The colour is so natural yet vibrant at the same time. Make sure you get one, like the Anastasia Beverely Hills Matte Lipstick in Sandy Peach.

2. Coral

In pinks, stay away from anything too bright or standard hot pinks. Lovely coral shades, that gravitate towards the orange side are much better for you. The NYX Butter Lipstick In Rose Pink is a steal, if you ask me.

3. Orange Red

Again, it’s all about looking through the small reds. A bit of experience will tell you orange-based reds apart from blue-based reds. Why not give the Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipstick In 382 Red For Me a try…

4. Deep Mauve

There’s some great news, we can go all in with dark colours like wine, burgundy, mauve and purple. You’ll find a wide range of products. I’ve chosen the E.L.F Velvet Matte Lipstick In Deep Burgundy to give you perspective.

5. Rich Brown

And with dark browns, the sky’s the limit. Not surprisingly, these complete our skin colour really well. One such great product is the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick In Crucifix Deep Chocolate.
