Eye Cream Application 101

Eye creams can be a total saviour when it comes to looking young. The under eyes are one of the first places that show signs of ageing. And while, these products are magical for preventing dark, puffy, wrinkled or tired eyes, they can be easily misused. It’s important to use the right technique on this delicate area, which once you get to know, is pretty simple to follow.

First, eye creams need to take the correct place in your skincare routine. They should be applied right after cleanser, toner and/or serum, but before moisturiser. Then, take a pea-sized amount (for both eyes) onto the ring finger. Most formulas are very concentrated, and so using more amount will only cause irritation. Also, the reason I say ring finger is because it naturally uses the lightest pressure.

Start from the inner corner of each eye, about 1/2 an inch away from the lower lash line. Apply small dots in a semi-circle until you reach the brow bone. Don’t get too close to your eyelids, unless it’s actually mentioned on the instructions. Gently tap the product in to stimulate circulation. Alternatively, you can also dab or massage it in. Whatever you do, if you’re moving the surrounding skin, you’re being too harsh!

Let this absorb for at least 90 seconds. After that time period, feel free to apply remaining skin or makeup items. You can use eye cream at morning or evening (depending on preference) or even both. Generally speaking, eye cream is used at morning to hide under-eye bags or puffiness. While, at night it can be a specialised treatment.

I’ve covered everything one needs to know. Quite simple. if you ask me! Of course, make sure you purchase a quality eye cream, tailored to personal concerns. I would love for you to drop a comment below.
