The number one cosmetic product that I carry around with me all the time, has got to be lip balm. This holds true especially in the winters, when they can get dry at any moment. Chapped lips are a huge pet peeve of mine, and I’m sure everyone agrees that they’re just not a good look.
Having said that, I wouldn’t recommend you to grab whichever comes to hand at the grocery store. Each lip gloss has different ingredients, out of which certain work better than others. Heck, there’s even creams that lead to cracked lips over time. To avoid purchasing havoc-wreaking items, choose a worthy formula, like the options I’ve put together for you.
1. Lucas Papaw Ointment
An Australian creation, this stuff truly does a miracle! It’s a pale yellow liquid with the consistency of a thin paste. Though it feels incredibly lightweight when applied, lips stay moisturised for hours. You can even use this for boils, burns, chafing, cuts, rash, splinters, etc thanks to its fermented carica papaya extracts.
2. Vaseline Lip Care Aloe Soothe
Much more thinner, but it still has the same nourishing effect. This lip lotion comes in various other types, including the regular old version. I do prefer the ‘aloe soothe’, that has highly enriching aloe vera gel in it.
3. Nivea Shea Butter Essential Lip Care
For days when I need a heavy-duty boost of moisture, the kind that lasts all through the day, I look no further than Nivea. It’s got shea butter and a ton of natural oils, for the ultimate treatment. The cream does work well under lipsticks too.
4. Maybelline New York Baby Lips Colour
Going for tinted alternatives instead of the same clear formula is much more exciting, at least for me. I prefer having nothing but a dab of this lovely colour, than wearing heavy lipsticks on most days. A few have spf in them as well, great for days you’ll be exposed to the sun a lot.
5. Carmex Classic Medicated Lip Balm
The reputable brand, Carmex, has been exclusively producing lip balms since the early 20th century. So, of course I’d recommend every girl out there to give this a shot. In case you like to spice things up, they also have many fruit flavoured variants.
6. Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm
It’s a not too common to find an organic yet cheap lip balm on the market, these days, Thankfully, burt’s never fails to disappoint. The combination of beeswax, vitamin e and peppermint are bound to keep your mouth and mind happy!
7. The Body Shop Vitamin E Lip Care Spf 15
Amazing product quality makes up for the slightly higher price tag on this one! The product formula is like no other and the packaging is just a bonus. They’ve specifically mentioned it to be for all skin types and have an SPF of 15 (PA++).
8. EOS Natural & Organic Sphere Lip Balm
I don’t know about you but the unique spherical shape alone makes me want to go and buy it. The benefits of being clean, natural and organic are extras. To add, there’s a hell of flavours here, from sweet mint to lemon drop.
9. Chapstick Lip Balm
Another prized classic that I’ve been lucky to encounter! There’s not much to say here, except that you’ll find a type of chapstick for every person.
10. Aquaphor Lip Repair Ointment
Ah, finally the medicated cure we’ve all being waiting for… Claiming to be immediate relief, aqua-hot will make way for healthier lips naturally. It’ll seal in moisture and prove to benefit from within. And there’s no paraben or fragrance whatsoever.
